The Gathering Storm sequel going ahead with Brendan Gleeson as Churchill
It seems that the sequel/follow up to The Gathering Storm is going ahead but with a different actor playing Churchill. The Sunday Times reports that HBO will be producing 'Churchill at War', with Brendan Gleeson playing Churchill. The full article can be read here, and here's the 'The Gathering Storm' mentions:
Gleeson is following a line of venerable, and more obvious, actors who have portrayed the former prime minister. Albert Finney won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his depiction in 2002’s The Gathering Storm, a look at Churchill’s marriage to Clementine in the years leading up to the second world war. Churchill at War is being made by the same production team — Scott Free Productions, a company owned by the director of Gladiator and his brother Tony of Top Gun fame — and is a follow-on. From an interview with Russell Crowe: It must have been great working with Albert Finney?
Russell Crowe: He's wonderful. Unfortunately I didn't get to do any scenes with Albert. We had two-dinner parties... lovable fellow. Posted on 13th November 2006
